Rehearsal Schedule...

The Ian Sturrock Memorial Pipe Band practices most Saturday mornings at 11 AM from January to November at the Taylor Memorial United Methodist Church located at 2501 Sweeney Hollow Road, Birmingham, AL 35215-2898.

ISMPB normally rehearses outside in the church parking lot during the spring and early summer. The band rehearses in the spacious, climate-controlled fellowship hall during inclement weather and during the extreme hot and cold seasons.

Directions from Birmingham and points south. Head north on I-20 E/I-59 N. Where I-20 E splits off towards Atlanta stay north on I-59. Take exit 141 toward Trussville/Pinson. Turn left at Chalkville Rd/Co Rd 10 and follow for 2.5 miles. After crossing the intersection of Old Springville Rd, Chalkville Rd becomes Sweeny Hollow Rd. Go another half mile and the church will be on your right.

Bagpipe Lessons
ISMPB offers expert instruction for the bagpipes with Pipe Major and Musical Director Ryan Morrison, professional ceremonial musician and teacher.

Lessons are arranged and conducted privately Monday through Sunday and are $40 for an hour. Upon reaching a certain level of competency, students will undergo an evaluation and may be invited to join the band.

Seeking Snare Drummers
ISMPB is currently seeking motivated students for the Scottish Snare. Experience is always preferred, but we welcome any individuals with genuine interest.

Students will have the opportunity to learn from the South's most prolific professional Scottish Snare instructor Pipe Sergeant Mike Paige of the Duncan McCall Pipe Band.
